New York Training Classes
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requires all facilities with underground storage tanks to register the names and authorization numbers of their Class A and Class B Operators with DEC by October 11, 2016.

To become authorized, these Operators must be trained and must pass a DEC-administered exam that demonstrates their competence to operate these tank systems. You may sign up for the exam at http://www.dec.ny.gov/about/101500.html. Examinees who do not pass the exam may retake it, but only three times in the last six months with a minimum of 24 hours between each retake.

Petro Classroom has developed an online training program to prepare New York State tank owners and operators to take the DEC online exam. The course is based on DEC study materials, regulations and state forms. The DEC prepared an “Operator Training Guide” that can be downloaded at DEC’s web page, http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/remediation_hudson_pdf/tankiq.pdf.

The DEC grants reciprocity to Class A/B operators certified in states approved by the EPA. All of Petro Classroom’s state Class A/B courses are approved by the EPA. If you hold one of Petro Classroom’s A/B Certifications you may apply online for reciprocity with DEC at http://www.dec.ny.gov/about/101500.html.
