Louisiana UST Decommissioning (DEQ-C-0027)

Petro Classroom's Louisiana UST Decommissioning (DEQ-C-0027) course is approved by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) for four (4) hours of continuing education credits for UST Closure/Decommissioning.  This underground storage tank training course is online and consists of eight chapters and a final exam.  Once you complete the course and pass the final exam, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can submit to the LDEQ for continuing education credits.

​Chapter 1: Introduction

This chapter provides you with an overview of what the course is all about and all the resources and reading materials you will need, including where to locate all state and federal regulations.

​Chapter 2: Components of Tank Systems

This chapter is an in-depth look at the components of a tank system and the equipment that the tank worker/contractor needs to be familiar with to decommission a tank system.

Chapter 3: Reporting and Recordkeeping Requirements

This chapter covers the state and federal EPA reporting and recordkeeping requirements for decommissioning a tank system.

 

Chapter 4: Site Preparation and Layout

In this chapter we will discuss the pre-closure preparation activities that every tank worker/contractor should perform before taking on a tank decommissioning job.  We detail the factors that need to be considered during the pre-bid process in order to maximize your profits.

Chapter 5: Vapor Freeing Tanks

This in-depth chapter will cover everything a tank worker/contractor needs to know leading up to the vapor freeing of a tank along with all the “safest” methods and industry standards that should be followed when performing this dangerous task.

Chapter 6: Cleaning Tank and Tank Removal

This chapter covers the tasks of safely cleaning the tank of all residues and sludge and proper excavation, removal, disposal and transport of the UST.

Chapter 7: Temporary and Permanent Closure

This chapter delves into the rule and recordkeeping requirements of placing a tank in temporary or permanent closure, closing a tank in place and changing the service of a tank.  We also discuss the required site assessments.

Chapter 8: Health and Safety

This chapter will provide the important safety measures that you need take to keep you and your co-workers out of harm’s way when decommissioning a UST.

Final Exam:

There will be quizzes interspersed throughout each chapter, which will prepare you for the final exam.  You will be able to review each quiz to determine what you answered correctly or incorrectly. 

There is also a final exam that you must pass with a 75% in order to receive your Certificate of Completion.  You may take the exam multiple times.  The exam is set up to randomly pull the questions so if you take the exam more than once, you will not have exactly the same questions. You have 1 ½ hours to complete the exam.​
